INTERDISCIPLINARY APPROACHES TO
LANGUAGE AND THEIR APPLICATIONS

The Interdisciplinary Approaches to Language and their Applications (IALA) work team studies the human faculty of language by using ideas and tools from different disciplines. This transversal attitude allows us to integrate complementary points of view that will help us achieve a more complete and unified vision of language.
More specifically, we aim at understanding language uniformity and variation, an old research topic within the generative agenda. To that end, we explore and incorporate insights and methodologies from fields like Philology, Psycholinguistics or Physics in order to get a more robust characterization of a key biological property of human beings. A fundamental component of our activities concerns knowledge transfer—that is, the attempt to make our research achievements reach society, and more particularly Education.
